The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM has revealed that the nine Nigerian teenage girls allegedly trafficked to Ghana for prostitution have returned to Nigeria.
This was noted in post via its X page on Saturday, 15th of June, 2024. it was disclosed the girls arrived around 9:55 pm on Friday, June 14.
Sharing a video, NIDCOM wrote:
“9 teenage Nigerian girls trafficked to Ghana have arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, following a visit by the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri Erewa.
“And the representatives of the Imo State Governor , Rt. Hon. Chyna Amara Iwuanyanwu (Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House) and Imo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Nkechinyere Ugwu.
“They arrived at about 9:55 pm, were profiled, and handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP)
“Hon. Abike mentioned that the rescued girls have been handed over to Naptip and their respective states for rehabilitation and counseling. The trafficker has been arrested and charged to court in Ghana “
Abike Dabiri also revealed that “the girls are undergoing proper rehabilitation and counseling courtesy #naptipnigeria and the governments of Imo and Plateau states.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
