Nigerian Army Rescues 22 Abductees In Zamfara After Fierce Gun Battle With Bandits

In a daring operation, the Nigerian Army troops of Operation Hadarin Daji successfully rescued 22 persons who were abducted by bandits in Zamfara State.

The rescue operation took place on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, when the troops from Sector 1, Team 3 Magami, deployed at FOB Dansadau, engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle.

According to intelligence sources, the commanding officer of the battalion led the troops in stalking and swooping on the bandits, leading to a ferocious firefight. During the intense encounter, some of the bandits were annihilated, allowing the troops to liberate the abductees safely.

The rescued individuals, comprising 16 males and 4 females, were promptly taken to Dansadau for further necessary actions. The success of the operation is a significant blow to the activities of the bandits in the region.

In a separate incident, troops from Sector 1, Team 10, deployed at FOB Wasagu, intercepted two locals who had managed to escape from a bandit enclave in Birnin Gwari Forest, Kaduna State. These individuals had spent 14 harrowing days in captivity before their daring escape.

The rescued victims were handed over to the Magaji of Wasagu, ensuring their safe return to their families and communities.

Additionally, in a fighting patrol along Makakari village in Gwashi District, Bukuyyum LGA of Zamfara State, the troops of Forward Operating Base in Anka neutralized two bandit terrorists and recovered their weapons. This operation further demonstrated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating banditry and ensuring the safety and security of the citizens.

Moreover, in Kwatarkwashi District, Bungudu LGA of Zamfara State, the troops successfully thwarted an abduction attempt. Acting on a distress call that bandits had targeted Comrade Nura’s residence, the troops swiftly responded, causing the bandits to flee the scene.
