Nigerian Activist, Deji Adeyanju Advises Striking Lecturers, ASUU On Appeal Court Order

Deji Adeyanju, An activist in Nigeria has advised the striking university lecturers, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on what to do next after Appeal Court judgment asked the varsity teachers to resume work immediately.

The activist in a post he shared today, Saturday, via his twitter handle asked ASUU to call-off its lingering strike action embarked upon since February in obedience to the appellate court’s ruling.

Adejanju however, suggested that the striking members of ASUU should embark on another strike immediately after calling off the lingering one.

According to him “ASUU should call off the strike then go on another one immediately thereafter. And the justification for a fresh strike will be simply: there’s practically no way our universities can operate without proper funding.

The activist added that until proper funding is done to the Nigerian universities, the ASUU should not back down.

“Rinse and repeat until our tertiary institutions are properly funded. Do not appeal the AC judgment; learn to read the room,” he added
