Some detachment of soldiers took positions and secured the streets on Lagos Island, Lagos State, on Monday, following unrest in the market after declaring Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
According to report gathered, some armed thugs invaded the market area to vandalise shops and rob people leaving some injured.
However, Benjamin Hundeyin, who is the state Police Public Relations Officer, debunked the report, saying that nobody was robbed, neither were shops vandalised and destroyed.
Stating that the attack was not from political thugs, Hundeyin noted that the police had intervened in the unrest and peace had been restored.
Peter obi had won the Former Governor of Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also the ruling All Progressive Congress presidential candidate in the state.
