The Nigeria Senate has appointed Mohammed Monguno, the lawmaker representing Borno North, as the new Chief Whip, replacing Ali Ndume, the representative for Borno South.
Ndume’s replacement followed a letter by the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje to the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio.
This was conveyed in a post via the Senate’s X page, on Wednesday, 17th of July, 2024.
The post reads:
“The Senator representing Borno North, Sen. Mohammed Monguno (APC-Borno) has replaced Sen. Ali Ndume representing Borno South (APC-Borno) as the Chief Whip of the Senate.
“This was contained in a letter by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje to the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio.
“The letter titled ‘Complaints Against the Unbecoming Utterances of Sen. Ali Ndume’ was read by Akpabio during plenary on Wednesday.
“Thereafter, the upper chamber, in a voice vote, took the unanimous resolution to effect the replacement of Ndume with Monguno.
“Ndume’s fall came barely days after he publicly condemned the present economic hardship in the country, allegedly that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was being held hostage in the Aso Presidential Villa by a cabal preventing him from knowing the harsh realities in the country.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
