Nigeria Immigration Service warns public against rising fake recruitment adverts

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned the general public against the increasing number of fake recruitment advertisements being perpetrated by fraudsters.

The Service emphasised that vacancies are advertised through the NIS website, official government channels and recognised national newspapers.

They further disclosed that they are working with relevant authorities to bring to book those involved in the fraudulent activities.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Service Public Relations Officer, AS Akinlabi, on Friday, 14th of February 2025.

The statement reads:

“The attention of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, KN NANDAP, pcc, mmis, fsmn, has been drawn to the alarming increase in fake recruitment activities being perpetrated by fraudsters. The Service wishes to state that no recruitment exercise is currently ongoing.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service maintains that all recruitment exercises are conducted in a transparent, free and merit-based manner. Vacancies are advertised through the NIS website, official government channels and recognized national newspapers.

“The NIS is working closely with relevant authorities to apprehend those involved in these fraudulent activities and bring them to justice. The Service remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in all its operations.

“Consequently, the Comptroller General urges the general public to remain vigilant and refrain from patronizing fraudulent recruitment schemes.
