The Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, on Tuesday declared himself the Director General of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Speaking in Minna, the state capital, Bago also announced that Niger State would serve as the campaign headquarters.
The governor criticised some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are pushing for a northern presidential candidate, insisting that Nigeria has an unwritten understanding on power rotation between the North and South.
He said this arrangement has contributed to national peace and stability.
“We completed the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, and Asiwaju is just in his second year,” Bago stated, reaffirming his commitment to Tinubu’s candidacy.
