The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has conducted a crucial review of the national teams’ preparations for upcoming continental tournaments, issuing directives to ensure optimal readiness.
A primary focus of the meeting was the Super Eagles’ campaign at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The tournament is scheduled for Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. The committee instructed the NFF Secretariat to guarantee a seamless and trouble-free preparation phase. It also urged the team to channel their focus positively, using the continental championship as a platform to reclaim national pride following their failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In parallel preparations, the committee has mandated the Secretariat to organize high-caliber international friendly matches for the Super Falcons during the FIFA window in February 2026. These matches are a key part of the build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will also be hosted in Morocco.
The Super Falcons enter the tournament with historic ambitions: they are seeking a record-extending 11th WAFCON title while simultaneously building a squad capable of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
