First Lady Hosts Annual Nine Lessons and Carols Service at State House

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, hosted the annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at the State House in Abuja. The gathering brought together national leaders, senior government officials, and prominent religious figures for a session of worship and contemplation.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was present at the service, remarked that the theme, “Emmanuel: God With Us,” created a profoundly reflective atmosphere as the country approaches the end of the year. He described the event as a time of uplifting fellowship and national unity.

Governor Abiodun highlighted the impactful sermon delivered by His Eminence Oliver Aba, the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria. In his address, the Prelate framed Christmas as a celebration of hope, unity, and selfless service, calling on leaders and citizens to rebuild trust, champion peace, and restore faith in the nation’s future.

The service saw the attendance of prominent national figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, alongside traditional rulers and clergy. A curated program of biblical lessons, hymns, and carols fostered a spirit of reverence, reinforcing the core seasonal values of love, sacrifice, and service.

Concluding his reflections, Governor Abiodun reiterated his dedication to compassionate governance, expressing his desire that the message of “Emmanuel” would foster peace and inspire a renewed commitment to the public good in Ogun State and throughout Nigeria.
