In a coordinated effort, emergency responders successfully evacuated petroleum products from a tanker involved in an accident along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway in Kaduna.
The operation ensured the safe transfer of the cargo to another tanker, preventing potential hazards.
The response involved multiple key stakeholders, including firefighters from the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), the Federal Fire Service, and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
This was disclosed via a statement on NEMA’s X page on Monday, 24th of February 2025.
The statement reads:
“Emergency responders have successfully evacuated the petroleum products from the tanker involved in an accident along Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway. This coordinated effort ensured the safe transfer of the product to another tanker, mitigating potential hazards.
“The response was a collaborative effort involving key stakeholders, including firefighters from the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), and the Federal Fire Service. Additionally, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDrA), the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Kaduna State Disaster Management Platform (DMP), and media partners played crucial roles in traffic and crowd control, operational coordination, and humanitarian services.
