The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Abuja Operations Office, in partnership with the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has distributed relief materials to individuals affected by the recent rain/windstorm disaster in Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State.
Representing the NEMA Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Comrade Justin Uwazuruonye, Head of AOO, offered condolences to the government and victims of the disaster.
This was disclosed in a post via the NEMA Nigeria Official X handle on Thursday, 12th of September, 2024.
The post reads:
“NEMA Abuja Operations Office (AOO) in collaboration with the Kogi SEMA carried out a direct distribution of Approved Federal Government Relief materials to personsaffected by Rain/Windstorm disaster in 8 communities in Lokoja LGA, Kogi State.
“The Director General NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar who was represented by the Head AOO, comrade Justin Uwazuruonye commiserated with the government and the victims over the unfortunate incidentand advised them to be their brother’s keeper. He also extended the DGs message of moving up to higher ground as the rains are still in effect
“He further noted that Disaster Management is everybody’s business therefore, citizens are enjoined to imbibe the culture and engage inactivities that are geared towards Disaster Risk Reduction as this will help to mitigate against the adverse effects of disasters.
