‘Nearly 40-year-ago’: Former London Police Watchdog Boss Charged With Rape

Michael Lockwood, a Former police watchdog boss, of 64 years, has been charged with the rape of a teenage girl nearly 40 years ago.

Freshreporters Media had gathered that the watchdog boss was charged with 6 counts of indecent assault and 3 counts of rape against an underage girl.

The former Director General of the Independent Office for Police Conduct, in December last year, stepped down from his office after facing criminal investigations into child sex allegations.

According to Crown Prosecution Service in a statement shared on Friday and was locally obtained by the freshreporters, Lockwood has been charged with the 9-count offences which dated back to 1985 and 1986.

Rosemary Ainslie, who is the CPS Head, said,

“After carefully considering all of the evidence provided to us by Humberside Police, we have authorised charges against Michael Lockwood, 64, for nine offences under the Sexual Offences Act 1956.

“Mr Lockwood has been charged with six counts of indecent assault and three offences of rape against a girl under the age of 16, alleged to have been committed during the 1980s.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Lockwood are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”

Michael Lockwood will appear before the Hull magistrates court on 28th of June, 2023 at 2 pm.
