NDLEA Seizes Loud from Canada, Recovers Illicit Drugs in Kano, Kaduna, Borno, Oyo Raids (Photos)

NDLEA Destroys 3 Tons of Skunk in Edo Forest, Seizes 76.9kg Loud from Canada. Recovers 390kg Illicit Drugs in Kano, Kaduna, Borno, Oyo Raids

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully carried out multiple operations across different states in Nigeria. The agency’s efforts have resulted in the destruction of a massive quantity of skunk, the seizure of synthetic cannabis, and the recovery of a significant amount of illicit drugs.

On Tuesday, 30th May, NDLEA operatives launched an operation in the Iwe forest of Iwe community, located in the Owan West local government area of Edo state. Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives discovered a large warehouse storing 231 jumbo bags of skunk, a psychotropic substance. The total weight of the seized skunk amounted to over 3 tons, weighing approximately 3,003 kilograms. The operatives set the illicit substance ablaze, effectively destroying it. This operation was executed by hundreds of well-armed NDLEA operatives.

In a separate operation conducted between Thursday, 1st June, and Friday, 2nd June, at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Onne, Rivers state, the NDLEA, in collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service, seized 76.9 kilograms of Canadian Loud.

The synthetic strain of cannabis was discovered in four used vehicles inside a container originating from Canada, marked MSDU6686346. This joint inspection followed intelligence received by the agency, which prompted a 100 percent examination of the shipment.

The NDLEA’s relentless efforts extended beyond Edo and Rivers states. In Kano state, two suspects, Ma’aruf Rabiu and Abubakar Mustapha, were apprehended on Tuesday, 30th May, along the Zaria-Kano road. The suspects were found in possession of 260 blocks of cannabis, weighing 139.4 kilograms. The following day, Wednesday, 31st May, Auwal Ibrahim was also arrested along the Kaduna-Abuja road, with 38 kilograms of cannabis. Simultaneously, a 35-year-old female suspect, Bilkisu Isiya, was arrested at Birnin Yero, Kaduna, in possession of 5.6 kilograms of cannabis.

Moving to Borno state, two suspects, Abubakar Usman (aka Alhaji Mai Kero) and Adamu Yusuf, were arrested on Saturday, 3rd June, at Bargu village in Shani LGA. Deep inside an area affected by insurgency, the suspects were found with 165 blocks of skunk, weighing 140.7 kilograms. The arrest of these individuals was made possible with the support of the military. Additionally, a female suspect, Hauwa Ibrahim, 25, was apprehended in the same village with 6.4 kilograms of the psychoactive substance. In a separate incident, Alhaji Abubakar, 27, was arrested at the Njimtilo checkpoint, where he was found in possession of 4,200 ampoules of pentazocine injection and various quantities of D5 and exol-5 tablets.

In Oyo state, a 30-year-old suspect named Iroko Wasiu was arrested at a drug joint in Sabo Aba-Owolowo along the Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway. During the arrest on Tuesday, 30th May, 31.2 kilograms of cannabis were recovered from him. The following day, Wednesday, 31st May, two suspects, Deji Adelabu, 35, and Mut
