Ten individuals have been apprehended by the Nigerian Navy for possessing a vessel thought to contain crude oil products amounting to roughly 1052 tons.
Commodore Madumom Ide, the Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship Jubilee, spoke to reporters at Ibaka in Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.
He clarified that NNS Orji had seized the ship and transferred custody to NNS Jubilee stationed at Forward Operating Base in Ibaka.
According to Commodore Ide, the ship has the ability to transport 1,052 tonnes which is equivalent to more than 7,000 barrels of oil.
While reassuring Nigerians of the Navy’s commitment to end illegal activities in the Maritime sector, he condemned the scale of economic sabotage committed by the suspects.
