‘Nattering Nitwits’: Debate With Chimamanda Not Datti-Ahmed – Atiku Tells Wole Soyinka

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has reacted to the call by Nigerian Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, to debate with Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party, LP, presidential running mate.

The Nigerian former Vice President knocked that Prof Soyinka should debate with award-winning author, Chimamanda Adichie not Datti who is a politician.

It was recalled that, on the 22nd of March, 2023 during a live interview, Datti stated that the country has no president-elect despite the announcement made by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declaring Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC party as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Baba Ahmed-Datti stated, Bola Tinubu would be leading an unconstitutional government in the country if sworn into office because the APC candidate “has not met requirements of the law.” Since then, the interview had sparked up controversies in the APC camp and Wole Soyinka had since faulted the claims made by Datti against Bola Tinubu, who has sometimes ago benefitted some palliatives from him and his wife.

Professor Wole Soyinka summoned the Labour Party,s vice presidential candidate, Baba Ahmed-Datti to an open debate on comments made on the live interview.

In another response, Professor Wole Soyinka blowed up against the supporters of the Labour Party, LP who goes by the name ‘Obidients’. He described Peter Obi’s Supporters Are “nattering nitwits” who have turned the Internet to soakaway for their rancid emissions”

However, reacting through a spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Daniel Bwala, Alhaji Atiku said Wole Soyinka was not a politician, hence should challenge Chimamanda not Datti.

Tweeting, Bwala wrote: “Am told Prof. Soyinka asked to debate Datti. No, he should ask to debate Chimamanda Adichie.

“Datti is a politician, Soyinka is not, so it will be an unfair debate.

“But both Soyinka and Chimamanda trade on literature and grammar. #Soyinkadebatechimamanda.

“When he tries Chimamanda, he will understand the phrase ‘nobody has the monopoly of knowledge’. It will certainly be the case of David v Goliath.” He said.
