The drug hawkers operating in the Apapa area and its surrounding areas of Lagos State are being targeted more heavily by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The operation is a component of NAFDAC’s continuous drive to stop the illegal distribution and sale of unapproved medications. It is being led by the agency’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate.
In the most recent operation, a sizable stash of illegal substances was taken into custody along with a number of drug vendors.
Antibiotics, over-the-counter medicines, narcotics including tramadol, and aphrodisiacs were among the things seized.
The total estimated street value of the narcotics that were recovered is close to fifty million naira.
Prosecution awaits those who are caught in relation to the illicit drug trade.
