NAF ramps up aerial strikes in Niger Delta, dèstroys over 100 illegal refining sites

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified aerial operations in the Niger Delta region as part of efforts to combat crude oil theft and safeguard national infrastructure, recording notable achievements in recent months.

According to a statement from the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Air Component of Operation Delta Safe, under the 115 Special Operations Group, has sustained a high tempo of targeted missions across oil-rich states including Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, Ondo, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and others.

Between January and May 2025, NAF executed over 173 missions and 265 sorties, amounting to approximately 270 flying hours.

These operations supported joint military efforts and included precision strikes aimed at dismantling illegal refining infrastructure and disrupting the supply chains of oil thieves and pipeline vandals.

The airstrikes resulted in the destruction of more than 100 illegal refining sites, 53 boats, 74 cooking tanks, two reservoirs, and multiple transport vehicles used in illicit activities.

Key areas targeted include Buguma, Imo River, Okrika, Port Harcourt, Egbema/Ohaji, and along the Trans Niger Pipeline corridor. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
