Multiple Feared Trapped in Anambra After Five-Storey Building Collapse

A five-story building that was under construction collapsed in Basden Street, Fegge, in the commercial metropolis of Onitsha, Anambra State, possibly trapping an undetermined number of people.

It was learned that some construction workers were on the last level when the building, which was intended to be used for commercial reasons when completed, fell in the early hours of Sunday.

To start clearing the debris and perhaps rescuing any casualties who may be trapped, an excavator has been dispatched promptly to the scene.

Although the cause of the collapse is yet unknown, rescue efforts at the scene are still ongoing, according to a source close to the scene as of Sunday, when this story was filed. One person has been rescued. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
