The east coast of Taiwan was rocked by a 7.3 magnitude earthquake at 7:58 a.m. on Wednesday, leaving at least four people dead and 97 wounded.
The Central Weather Bureau said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in seas around 25 km (15.5 miles) south of the eastern county of Hualien and 138 km from Taipei. Buildings all around the island collapsed as a result of the shock.
There are tsunami warnings in effect not just in mainland China but also in other parts of the area and on the island.
According to local television video, residents fled screaming as buildings trembled severely for a minute before collapsing to the ground. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
