A man only identified as teacher Mbewe from Luanshya yesterday collapsed his head first after standing for two hours teaching primary 3 pupils.
According to reports, Baba Mbewe teaches at a school where him and other teachers are given less than 20k at the end of the month. He finds it very difficult to sustain himself. Sometimes he only pays rent and begins to wait for death to come.
Yesterday, whilst teaching a primary 3 class, he collapsed and fell head first. After numerous shouts by the learners, teachers rushed into the class and lifted him out for fresh air.
He was not responding to stimuli. His heart was beating but the rest of the body remained numb. One of the female teachers got a drink and forced it into his mouth. His gullet opened and slowly the bottle was already halfway gone.
This alerted the other teachers, hunger does not go well with talking, they quickly rushed into his class and got a lunch box from a child and tried to feed him.
Slowly he was coming back to life and managed to sit, in seconds he was able to speak. It was clear he was hungry.
