President Bola Tinubu attended the funeral of former President Muhammadu Buhari, paying his final respects as Buhari was laid to rest in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The burial marked the end of a period of national mourning for a leader who served Nigeria as a military Head of State and as a democratically elected President.
Buhari’s remains were interred after a funeral prayer led by Sheikh Salisu Rabiu, the Imam of Daura’s Central Mosque.
In a ceremony blending deep tradition with military solemnity, Army Generals and Service Chiefs carried the coffin to the graveside.
