Minister Umahi Declares Igbos No Longer Marginalized, Says “No Need for Biafra”

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has stated that calls for a separate Biafran state are no longer necessary, arguing that the Igbo people are now fully integrated into Nigeria’s national agenda under President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking during an inspection of federal projects in the Southeast, the former Ebonyi State Governor said that the feelings of marginalization which fueled separatist agitations have significantly diminished. “In the past administration, our people felt very much marginalised, and that was the reason some people were agitating for Biafra. But today, we are well integrated into the mainstream of the nation, Nigeria,” he declared.

Umahi highlighted massive ongoing infrastructure investments in the region, including the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway and the Second Niger Bridge, as evidence of this integration and presidential focus. He praised President Tinubu’s administration, stating the Southeast is now “comfortable” and “very happy.”

Concluding his remarks, Umahi framed the current period as a divinely appointed time for the region, saying, “This is our time, and this is the time that God has sent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reintegrate our people.”
