Military Raid Kîlls Top Böko Háram Commander, 10 Fïghters in Borno

Troops have dealt a significant blow to the Boko Haram insurgency, eliminating the group’s second-in-command for the Sambisa Forest, Abu Khalid, and ten other militants in a nighttime operation in Borno State.

The operation, conducted by the Joint Task Force North East (Operation HADIN KAI) with support from Civilian Joint Task Force members, took place around 11:00 pm in the Komala area of Konduga Local Government.

Abu Khalid, described as a key coordinator for logistics and operations in the Sambisa axis, was neutralised with his fighters. This success came shortly after another high-value target, known as Julaibib, was eliminated in the Gujba axis.

From the scene, soldiers recovered five AK-47 rifles, ammunition, several bicycles, food supplies, and a substantial stockpile of medical items. The military reported no casualties among its own forces.

The armed forces have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining offensive pressure in known terrorist enclaves like the Sambisa Forest, Mandara Mountains, and the Timbuktu Triangle until lasting peace is restored to the region. The Military High Command praised the troops for their courage and dedication.

These recent operations highlight the military’s escalated campaign to dismantle the leadership and supply networks of Boko Haram and its affiliate, ISWAP, in their longstanding strongholds.
