Medical Doctor Arrested for Rape of Nurse Under His Care: Kwara Police Give Details

• A medical doctor named Dr. Ayodele Joseph allegedly sedated and raped a female nurse under his care in his hospital located in Ilorin, Kwara State capital. The victim reportedly recorded the sexual assault on video, which was later recovered by the police, and confirmed by medical examinations conducted on the victim.

• The suspect is also facing other criminal charges, including criminal conspiracy, negligent conduct, causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others, and culpable homicide. He has been arraigned in court by the police in the past for his unprofessional conduct resulting in the death of one Nneka Akanike in his hospital under questionable circumstances.

• The Kwara State police also paraded 13 other suspected criminals, including armed robbers, cultists, and members of a gang of thieves and secret cults. They were arrested for various offenses, and items allegedly found on them include dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, a number of hard drugs suspected to be ‘ICE’, and knives.

The Kwara State Police Command has disclosed how Dr. Ayodele Joseph, a medical practitioner, allegedly had sexual intercourse with a patient in his care.

Dr. Ayodele, the owner of Ayodele Hospital in the Sawmill area, Ilorin, Kwara State, was arrested by the police for gross indecency and rape.

The suspect was among 13 other criminals paraded by the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama.

According to the commissioner, a female nurse, whose name was not disclosed, reported to the police that she was raped on May 5, 2023, at Ayodele Hospital, Ilorin, during surgery. The victim recorded the event on her mobile phone, unbeknownst to the doctor.

Dr. Ayodele sedated the patient before the operation, and she woke up to find herself naked. Upon viewing the recorded footage, she discovered that the doctor had unlawful sexual intercourse with her while she was under sedation.

The police commissioner disclosed that the suspect faced four criminal charges, which include Criminal Conspiracy, Negligent Conduct, Causing Hurt by Act Endangering life or Personal Safety of others, and Culpable Homicide, all resulting from his unprofessional conduct.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect would be charged with rape.

However, Dr. Ayodele has denied the allegations, describing them as a set-up.

He stated that the nurse was his girlfriend of eight years, and they had had intercourse several times before. The police paraded 13 other alleged criminals who were arrested for various offenses ranging from criminal conspiracy to armed robbery, cultism, and belonging to a group of ritualists.

They also paraded five other suspects alleged to be members of a secret cult and a gang of thieves, with items such as dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, a quantity of hard drugs suspected to be ‘ICE,’ and two knives.

Finally, the Commissioner of Police urged the public to continue to cooperate with the police by providing useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals in the state.
