Mayorkun, the Nigerian singer, has opened up about his friendship with Davido, his former record label boss at DMW.
Freshreporters News recalled that Back in 2016, Mayorkun gained fame with a cover of Davido’s ‘The Money’ and was discovered by Davido on X (formerly Twitter).
Davido signed Mayorkun to DMW, where he became a star with his debut single ‘Eleko.’ In two years, Mayorkun won ‘Next Rated’ at ‘The Headies,’ solidifying his fame.
In 2021, Mayorkun left Davido’s label, sparking rumors of a strained relationship. However, Mayorkun clarified on the Tea With Tay podcast that he and Davido have a great relationship.
Mayorkun explained that people think they’re not close because he doesn’t constantly post about Davido on social media.
He said, “Contrary to what other people think, I have one of the best relationships with Davido. I feel like he knows me, and he understands the kind of person I am. If I dey vex for am now, he knows… Like do you understand? I’m not that difficult of a human being.
“It’s just that I’m not posting Davido everyday, saying his my best friend that’s why some people think we are not cool. The relationship is not for you [fans]. You always forget that.”..[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>
