Bandits have struck again, this time kidnapping Hassan Saidu, a Masters student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University’s Geography Department in Sokoto.
Saidu, who was conducting research work, was abducted alongside his family members in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to Mallam Habibu Bobi Abdullahi, a brother of the victims and an alumnus at UDUS, the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
He revealed that the bandits brazenly entered their village, and in a bid to protect themselves, Saidu and his uncle, along with other family members, tried to hide.
It was gathered that, the armed kidnappers managed to locate he victims and forcefully took them away.
As of the time of this report, the kidnappers have not contacted the family to make demands.
Mallam Habibu expressed concern as all attempts to reach them via phone were unsuccessful, and they have not received any communication regarding the wellbeing of the captives.
Desperate for the safe return of their loved ones, Mallam Habibu called on everyone to join in prayers for the release of the captives without harm.
