Massive Drug Bust In India: Nigerian And Two Tanzanian Nationals Arrested

In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Police has apprehended three foreign nationals allegedly involved in drug trafficking.

The arrests took place on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, as part of the ANC’s relentless efforts to combat drug smuggling in the city.

The first arrest involved a Nigerian national identified as Chimezie Chika Edward Amaraegbu, aged 45, residing in Nalasopara. Amaraegbu was found in possession of a significant amount of drugs, including 200 grams of methamphetamine and 100 grams of mephedrone (MD), with an estimated street value of Rs 60 lakh.

Further investigations revealed that Amaraegbu was living in India without valid documents and was also booked under violation of the Foreigners Act 1946. It was discovered that he had entered India on a medical visa in 2012 and had been operating a garments business while allegedly supplying drugs to peddlers in the city.

The other two suspects apprehended were Tanzanian nationals named Abdalla Kombo and Bruno Ahmed Ali. They were caught in possession of 60 grams of cocaine at a hotel on Samuel Street in Dongri.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prakash Jadhav, the ANC’s relentless efforts to track down drug trafficking syndicates have led to the successful capture of these suspects.

Throughout 2023, the ANC has remained steadfast in its determination to combat drug trafficking, resulting in an impressive total of 132 arrests, including 15 foreign nationals. The crackdown on drug-related activities has also led to the seizure of drugs worth Rs 28.11 crore. (CONTINUE READING HERE)
