Alvaro Fernandez has officially left Manchester United to sign a long-term contract with Benfica.
Fernandez made his debut on loan with Granada before joining the Portuguese team in January.
Benfica has now activated its option to sign the 21-year-old left-back after he made 16 appearances in the second half of the campaign and showed promise.
In 2020, Fernandez left Real Madrid to join United, although he never saw action with the main squad.
