Panic gripped parts of Kano on Monday when a young man scaled a towering billboard near Gadar Lado along Zaria Road and threatened to take his own life unless certain TikTok celebrities he follows appeared at the scene.
Spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, revealing that the man refused to come down and insisted on seeing the social media personalities in person.
“Right now the security forces are trying to rescue him. He said if celebrities who follow on Tiktok don’t go there, he will fall. May God protect us,” Kiyawa wrote in a Facebook post, adding that security operatives were making every effort to rescue him safely.
In a follow up post, Kiyawa wrote
“At last the young man was rescued and taken to police hospital in Bompai.”
