Police in Abia State have arrested Edward Okorie, a native of Isiugwu in Ohafia, for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Sophy Chika, a nurse from Ozu Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on Monday, February 23, 2026, in Okagwe village, Ohafia, where the couple had lived together for more than three years. Community sources revealed that a domestic disagreement escalated, resulting in the nurse being beaten to death.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Umuahia has taken over the case for a comprehensive investigation.
