The Former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai concluded a two-day visit to Owerri, expressing his joy and gratitude for the city’s hospitality.
He stated that his trip’s goal of fostering national unity and progress was successfully met, praising the welcoming spirit he encountered from everyone.
In a statement by his media adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, El-Rufai described the visit as “great” and highlighted the “consistent pattern of welcome and openness” he experienced.
El-Rufai was quoted as saying: “I am overwhelmed by the grace and dignity displayed by the institutions and personalities that have received us. It is an exemplary display of a Nigerian citizen being made to feel welcome outside of his home area, amidst all the attempts at division.
“I thank the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri for inviting me to the 2025 Odenigbo Lecture. It was wonderful to address participants at the women’s conference of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu. His Highness Eze Stephen Kemjika Agumanu of Nekede was a most gracious host.
“The interactive session we held on our first night stands out as well. I appreciate the solidarity displayed by His Excellency Peter Obi who attended the event despite not feeling well.
“Owerri has been kind and open, and we have enjoyed the time, and we leave with great memories.”
