The Lagos State University (LASU) has strongly criticized a viral comedy skit depicting a staged bandit invasion on its campus, calling it insensitive and irresponsible.
The university’s management stated it never authorized the filming and denounced any content that trivializes terrorism or banditry, especially amid Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges. The skit, which showed individuals dressed in turbans startling students in a lecture hall, was widely condemned online before being deleted.
In response, the creators, Datreez Entertainment TV, apologized to LASU. They described the video as a controlled “social experiment” made for entertainment, with no weapons used and all participants aware of the prank.
The incident follows a similar move by the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in October to ban unauthorized filming by content creators on its premises.
