Barcelona president Joan Laporta has delivered an emotional address to the club’s players and staff as he temporarily steps down to campaign ahead of the March 15 presidential election.
Laporta made it clear to the squad that his goal is to return and continue leading the club after the vote. He acknowledged the next six weeks away from the team would be personally challenging.
He described working alongside the players, head coach Hansi Flick, his staff, and the wider organisation as the most fulfilling aspect of his presidency, attributing the club’s recent revival to their unity and dedication.
Laporta praised the squad for ushering in what he termed a historic era, thanking them for restoring pride and excitement among fans. He also reflected on the milestones of the past five years, emphasising the steady progress made and the promising direction of the current season.
Looking to the future, he expressed confidence in the club’s path, pointing to the ongoing renovation of the Camp Nou stadium and the continued pursuit of trophies.
