The government of Lagos State has revealed that it is set to address the aggrieved striking commercial bus drivers and has planned another meeting with them tomorrow, Wednesday.
It was gathered that the drivers under the aegis of Joint Drivers Welfare Association Of Nigeria went on a seven-day boycott of Lagos state roads over extortion by members of the state’s Parks and Garages Management Committee.
According to a statement made via Facebook page, the Lagos government stated, “The Lagos State Government is looking into the demands of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria, with a view to finding permanent solutions to the issues raised by the Association.”
Sola Giwa Who is the special adviser to the Lagos governor on transportation, said that most of the members who were present at the first meeting held on Friday, were from the Badagry part of Lagos state and it was resolved that the meeting be adjourned till Wednesday, tomorrow to have a larger house, which will include representatives of other recognised unions in the state.
