Lagos raids illegal traders, apprehend 35 along Lagos-Badagry expressway

A combined enforcement operation involving the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), and security personnel from Operation MESA (OP MESA) was carried out along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Saturday.

The operation targeted illegal trading activities on the road median between Iyana-Iba and Okokomaiko, a stretch notorious for congestion and environmental violations.

During the raid, 35 offenders were arrested and expected to face prosecution in accordance with state environmental and public safety laws.

This was contained in a terse statement on the X handle of the Managing Director, Lagos Waste Management Authority, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, on Saturday.

The statement reads:

“A combined task force of #LAGESCOfficial, #Lawma_gov and OP MESA conducted raids on illegal traders on the median of Lagos-Badagry Expressway from Iyana-Iba to Okokomaiko.

“The team arrested 35 offenders who will be duly prosecuted. Waste clearance operations continue.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
