Lagos Police detain officer, complainant in connection with newlywed’s d£ath in custody

The Lagos State Police Command has launched a probe into the alleged torture and subsequent death of Abdulmujid Oduga, a newlywed man, while he was in custody at the Ikota Police Post in the Ajah area of the state.

The probe was announced in a statement on the X handle of the the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday, 19th of February 2025.

Hundeyin provided an update on the case, confirming the arrest of both the Investigating Police Officer and the complainant involved in the incident.

He also stated that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of Abdulmujid Oduga’s death, with appropriate actions to follow based on the findings.

Hundeyin wrote:

“Investigations have since commenced. The Investigating Police Officer (IPO) and the complainant are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba.

“Meanwhile, an autopsy is about being carried out to determine the cause of death, after which further necessary actions will follow.

“Members of the public are assured that a thorough investigation will be carried out and any person(s) found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
