Lagos Govt shuts down petrol station for discharging wastewater to public road

The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office, LSWMO has shut down a petrol station, at Fagba Bus stop along Iju-Ishaga Road for indiscriminately discharging wastewater onto the public road.

This was conveyed in a post by Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab on Monday, 29th of July, 2024.

He wrote:

“The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed off the ENYO petrol station at Fagba Bus stop along Iju-Ishaga Road for indiscriminate discharging wastewater onto the public road thereby causing degradation of the road which was recently rehabilitated by the State Government.

“The Petrol Station which also operates a carwash in its premises has been in the habit of discharging wastewater from the carwash onto the Iju Ishaga road and the surroundings until the sealing off this morning 29th July 2024.

“The agency advises all persons or businesses that are in the habit of carrying out such acts to desist or face sanctions or prosecution.

“The Lagos State Government has zero tolerance for environmental pollution and degradation.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
