The Lagos State Government has sealed one private hospital in Ago-Okota, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area for transfusing unscreened blood.
The executive secretary of Lagos state Blood Transfusion Service, Dr. Bodunrin Osikomaiya, released a statement on Sunday, 15th of October, 2023 through, the Director of Public Affairs for the State Ministry of Health Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, announcing this action.
Dr. Osikomaiya explained that the LSBTS, acting on a tip provided by a concerned citizen, collaborated with the state Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency to seal the facility after conducting a thorough investigation.
She revealed,
“Following the tip-off, and after thorough investigations, the enforcement teams of LSBTS and HEFAMAA, during their joint monitoring exercise in the area, visited the facility and confirmed to be true, the unwholesome, unprofessional, and unethical medical practices and conduct of the hospital management.”
The facility’s closure was attributed to its violation of the blood transfusion service law, unethical and unprofessional medical practices, and the jeopardization of the lives of unwitting patients. [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
