Lagos Gov’t seals off multiple facilities over noîse pollûtion

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several facilities across the Lagos Mainland for repeated environmental violations, primarily related to noise pollution.

The agency’s enforcement team conducted the operation in various areas including Aguda, Surulere, LASU-Iba Road, Ilogbo Road, Jakande, Ajangbadi, Ojo, Okokomaiko, and Agric Bus Stop.

Facilities affected by the enforcement exercise include Admax Lounge, Casco Gas Plant, Food Affairs, Hotel De Bravo, JC Wellington Hotel & Suites, Niger Villa, Nayon Superstores, Another Level Hotel, The Levite Assembly, Lutana Lounge & Suites, and Kelwinson Hotel.

Lagos Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, while disclosing the enforcement via a post on his X handle, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to curbing environmental infractions, stressing that the crackdown was part of broader efforts to ensure a healthier and more livable Lagos.

Wahab’s post reads:

“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) intensified its enforcement operations on Tuesday, June 17 by sealing off multiple facilities across the Lagos Mainland over persistent environmental violations, particularly noise pollution.

“The agency’s enforcement team carried out the operation across various locations including Aguda, Surulere, LASU-Iba Road, Ilogbo Road, Jakande, Ajangbadi, Ojo, Okokomaiko, and Agric Bus Stop.
