The Lagos State Government has launched the Mother, Infant, and Child Development (MICHD) Programme, aimed at improving maternal and child health in Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, and Eti-Osa areas.
The programme launched at the Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) was aimed at providing nutritional support for vulnerable expectant mothers, ensuring healthier pregnancies and safer births.
This was contained in a post on the Lagos State Government Facebook handle on Friday, 28th of February 2025.
The post partly reads:
“As part of efforts to enhance maternal and child health in Lagos State, the Lagos State Office of Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement in partnership with the State’s Health District III, on Tuesday, launched the Mother, Infant, and Child Development (MICHD) Programme for residents of Lekki, Epe, and Eti-Osa.
“The launch, which took place at the Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), was designed to provide nutritional support for vulnerable expectant mothers, ensuring safer pregnancies, healthier births, and improved child development outcomes.
“The initiative was flagged off by the Director, Citizens Engagement, Office of Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, Dr. Babatunde Omotayo who represented the Office at the event.
“He emphasised the critical role of nutrition in maternal and infant health, highlighting that access to proper nutrition is essential for reducing pregnancy-related complications and promoting overall child well-being.
“In addition to the launched MICHD Programme, the Permanent Secretary of Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, also announced the enrollment of 200 vulnerable individuals each in Lekki, Epe, and Eti-Osa under the Ekosha Health Insurance Scheme. “ [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
