The Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources on Wednesday, 26th of June, 2024, resumed the clearing of the flooded Freedom Way Junction in the Lekki area of the state.
Tokunbo Wahab, made known by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, on his X page on 27th of June, 2024.
According to Wahab, the call was made in response to a social media alert calling the attention of the Lagos state government to flooding in the Lekki area of the state on Tuesday.
He wrote:
“Men of the EFAG team from the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, this morning, resumed clearing of the blocked Freedom Way culvert.
He disclosed that a blocked culvert caused the overflow and directed the Emergency Flood Abatement Gang to immediately clean the drainage channel.
He said: “In response to this video posted by #yawnaija on Instagram. This overflow was caused by a blocked culvert.
“I have instructed the officers from the Emergency Flood Abatement Gang (EFAG) of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources to begin an immediate cleaning of the drainage channel.
