Two individuals, Simeon David Akpata (22) and Miss Oluwamotemi Otunba (28), were apprehended earlier today for illegally dumping refuse along Ebute-Ipakodo road in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state.
Their actions were brought to light by a vigilant Lagos resident, who promptly alerted enforcement agents and ensured their arrest on the spot.
According to a statement on the X handle of the Lagos Commissioner, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the suspects will face immediate prosecution in accordance with the state’s environmental laws.
The statement reads:
“Simeon David Akpata – 22yrs and Miss Oluwamotemi Otunba – 28yrs were found dumping refuse along Ebute- Ipakodo Road earlier today by a concerned Lagosian who accosted and ensured that they were arrested by our enforcement agents.
“They will be tried immediately in accordance with the relevant laws of the state.
“While we appreciate the effort of this concerned Lagosian, we reiterate that a Cleaner Lagos is a collective responsibility of everyone. Keep your environment clean and stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the drainages.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
