Lagos Govt announces key traffic diversions for 2025 city marathon

Ahead of the 2025 Lagos City Marathon set for Saturday, 15th of February 2025, the Lagos State Government has unveiled key traffic diversions to ensure the smooth flow of the event.

The event is said to be between the hours of 5:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Major roads, including Ikorodu road, Third Mainland bridge, and Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, will be temporarily closed to accommodate the marathon route, which stretches from National Stadium in Surulere to Eko Atlantic.

This was made known via a statement by Lagos Commissioner for transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on Tuesday, 11th of February 2025.

The statement reads:

“Ahead of the annual Lagos City Marathon on Saturday, 15th February 2025, the Lagos State Government has released a traffic diversion plan to the motoring public.

“The marathon, which will take place between 5:00 am and 1:00 pm, will commence at the National Stadium, Surulere, proceeding through Ikorodu Road towards Anthony (Bertola), then moving through Gbagada to access the Third Mainland Bridge, heading inbound Lagos Island. From there, it will continue through Dolphin Road, leading to Alfred Rewane Road and onward to Falomo Roundabout.

“The race will continue through Bourdillon Road, crossing the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge to connect Admiralty Way. From Admiralty Way, the route extends to Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, continues through Akin Adesola, and concludes at Ahmadu Bello Way, Eko Atlantic.

“To this end, all adjoining Roads, Junctions and Intersections from National Stadium (Starting Point) to Ahmadu Bello Way (Eko Atlantic, End Point of the race) will be blocked with Concrete Barriers, manned by LASTMA, NPF, FRSC, LSNC, LAWMA to prevent other road users access to the main race corridor.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
