Lagos Court Grants Emefiele N50m Bail

Godwin Emefiele, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been granted N50 million in bail by a high court in Ikeja, Lagos.

In his decision on the bail application on Friday, Judge Rahmon Oshodi allowed Emefiele on bond along with two sureties in the same amount.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is on trial in Lagos on 26 counts related to alleged official abuse.

Oshodi held that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have three years of tax payment with the Lagos State Government.

He also ordered that the sureties must show proper identification and they must be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.

The judge also said that he was satisfied with the bail conditions of N1 million, earlier given to Emefiele’s co-defendant, Henry Isioma-Omoil who is standing another charge before Justice Olufunke Sule-Hamzat at a Yaba High Court. [CONTINUE READING HERE]
