Award-winning filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has disclosed that he is currently seeking a divorce, stating his goal is to be free to enter into a polygamous marriage.
The filmmaker revealed this during a recent watch party for his new movie, where he discussed his personal views on marriage and his background. A video clip from the event has since circulated widely online.
In the video, Afolayan confirmed that legal proceedings are already underway. “I am in and out of court seeking a divorce. I don’t mind the toll. So I can marry many wives now,” he stated.
He linked his perspective directly to the influence of his late father, who had ten wives and 25 children. Afolayan credited this family structure for his own existence and success. “Without my father, there wouldn’t be a KAP Village or even Kunle Afolayan. I am the seventh child of my father because he had ten wives,” he explained.
Afolayan further advocated for polygamy, encouraging other men to consider multiple relationships as a means of building a lasting legacy and ensuring continuity.
