Kogi SDP Governorship Candidate, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, Escape Assassination Attempt (Video)

In a shocking incident this afternoon, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt when his motorcade was ambushed by armed gunmen.

The attack occurred on the outskirts of Lokoja, near the ram market, sending shockwaves throughout the state.

Eyewitnesses reported that two powerbikes and a Toyota Hilux overtook Ajaka’s car, forcng it to come to a sudden halt. Moments later, a Mercedes Benz Limousine, bearing the official crest of Mr. Bello, the state governor, appeared alongside an open pick-up truck loaded with masked and hooded men wielding AK-47 assault rifles.

Without any warning or provocation, the assailants opened fire on Ajaka’s vehicle and the surrounding cars in the motorcade. Bullets rained down on them for more than five minutes, leaving a trail of destruction.

Astonishingly, despite the heavy gunfire, Ajaka’s bulletproof Lexus SUV sustained significant damage and was rendered inoperable.

Among the attackers, an eyewitness identified one Friday Makama, a notorious thug and former member of the House of Assembly, who was recently appointed as the Director General for Firearms Recovery by Governor Bello.

Another figure recognized among the hoodlums was Bashir Gegu, the commissioner for Solid Minerals, notorious for his involvement in acts of thuggery.

After the gunmen ceased their assault, Alhaji Ajaka, shaken but unharmed, made the decision to cancel his scheduled appointment with the Mai Geri, the first-class traditional ruler of Lokoja, and the Attah Igala in Idah. He promptly returned to Abuja after consulting with the Commander of the Lokoja Naval Base.
