Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, has educated mothers disclosing that a child below the age of six cannot be taken away from the mother.
According to him, in cases where the father and mother are separated, the custody of the child must always be with the mother except in cases of mental illness.
He made this known in a post shared on his X handle on Thursday, 27th of June, 2024.
He wrote:
“Mothers should know their rights, a child below the age of six (6) cannot be taken away from the mother.
“Custody of the child must always be with the mother in cases where the father and the mother are no longer together. Except in cases of mental illness.
“Fathers and families of fathers tend to oppress women and mothers and forcefully take the children away from the mother, this is so wrong.
“If you are a victim, the Police can be your voice, though child custody lies in the hands of the court, the law still says below the age of six, the mother should be with the child. Know your right.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>
