President William Ruto of Kenya has stirred conversation with a light-hearted comment about a possible “brain drain” after revealing that both of his daughters are now married to Nigerians.
Speaking at a wedding ceremony, in a clip shared by Africa Facts Zone, Ruto playfully questioned the shift in romantic preferences among Kenyan women, joking that Nigerian men seem to be winning over local suitors.
“My daughter is married to a Nigerian, and this one is now married to a Nigerian,” Ruto said with a smile. “And our guys around—are you slow? I don’t know. We need to balance this scale because at this rate, we are going to have a brain drain from Kenya.”
Beyond the humor, Ruto highlighted the growing ties between Kenya and Nigeria, saying the unions reflect the strong and friendly relationship between the two nations.
