Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi has resigned as the Kano State Commissioner for Transportation.
His resignation, tendered on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, follows his alleged involvement in securing bail for a suspected drug trafficker, Sulaiman Danwawu.
The move came shortly after a state government panel submitted a report implicating him in the controversial case.
The investigative panel, constituted by the Kano State Government, was tasked with examining the circumstances surrounding Danwawu’s bail. Its findings reportedly uncovered Namadi’s role in facilitating the suspect’s release, sparking public outrage and calls for accountability.
Confirming the development, a top government official said the resignation was accepted immediately. Meanwhile, civil society organisations are demanding deeper investigations and possible prosecution, describing the case as a test of the government’s anti-corruption resolve.
