Alhaji Abba Yusuf, the Kano state Governor, has distributed 52,800 free bags of NPK fertilizer worth N1bn to small-scale farmers across the 44 Local Government Areas in the state.
According to Yusuf, the Fertilisers were to aid in boosting food security in the state.
Yusuf stated this in a post via his X handle on Thursday, 18th of July, 2024.
He wrote:
“In our bid to boost food security in Kano, I had the pleasure of flagging-off the distribution of 52,800 free bags of NPK fertilizer to smallholder farmers across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State.
“The N1 billion worth fertilizer was produced by the state-owned Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), and its distribution is in fulfillment of our campaign promise to improve livelihood through investment in Agribusiness.
“Recall that the Kano State Executive Council had also approved the procurement of over five billion naira worth fertilizer that will soon be made available to farmers at a subsidized rate.
“Our government is ready to sustain food production through regular supply of fertilizer production by the state owned company (KASCO). KASCO and other state manufacturing centres are also being strengthened to revitalize revenue flow and sustain the economy of the state.” [CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>>>
